Land and farms in Hanover County appeal to investors, businesses and homebuyers because of its skilled labor, diverse economic base, great transportation corridors and low taxes. Hanover County, VA land is in the Coastal region and is adjacent to Caroline, Goochland, Henrico, King William, Louisa, New Kent and Spotsylvania counties. The 474-square-mile county is home to 107,766 residents. Interstates 95 and 295 are the major transportation highways. Manufacturing, retail and hospitality industries provide much of its economic base. Included in the top private employers are Amazon, FedEx, Bass Pro Shops, Kings Dominion and Tyson Farms. Hanover County farmland encompasses 89,186 acres – 30% of land total – and crops are 84% of agricultural sales. Business is booming but there’s always time for hunting and fishing. The Pamunkey, North Anna and South Anna rivers offer up perch, bass, catfish and other species. Hunters can bag deer, turkeys and small game on both public and private lands. Other attractions include the home of Patrick Henry, Barksdale Theater, Kings Dominion Amusement Park, Keeble Observatory and other historic sites including Hickory Hill Slave and African American Cemetery. Hanover County Public Schools provides K-12 public education. Randolph Macon College offering higher education.
