Brunswick County, VA land and farms offer lots of possibilities for investors looking for sites for businesses and residential development. Much of the development of rural Brunswick County’s land is found along the shores of Lake Gaston and the county’s several other lakes and rivers. The area is a favorite for sportsmen because of its vast amount of natural resources that include bear, deer and turkeys for hunting. Anglers can chase bluegill, crappie and largemouth bass. Kayaking, hiking, canoeing, camping and even scuba diving are favorite pastimes at its various waterways and parks. The 569-square-mile county includes 66,000 acres of farm land with 49% used for crops and pastures and 45% wooded with timbering possibilities. Seventy-two percent of its agricultural sales are in crops, and 28% is from livestock and poultry products. The county’s largest employers are state and local government agencies. The county takes credit for inventing the recipe for Brunswick Stew and even includes samples of it with their economic development packets sent to potential businesses. Brunswick County Public Schools provides K-12 education, and Southside Community College is a step toward higher learning.
