Person County, NC land and farms are highly sought properties by investors, developers and companies seeking to relocate. Located in the Piedmont, land in Person County, NC lies in the northcentral area of the state and borders on Virginia. It’s surrounded by the North Carolina counties of Durham, Orange, Granville, Halifax and Caswell. The 404-square-mile county is home to about 40,000 residents. The county’s location on US Highway 501 puts the city of Durham and the Research Triangle’s assets just 20 minutes away. In addition to a skilled workforce, the area offers high-speed, high-economy transit through highway, port and air connections. An important segment of Person County NC’s economic base is manufacturing. Included in the top private employers are GKN Automotive Components Inc., Eaton Corporation, Manufacturing and US Flue Cured Tobacco Growers Inc. Minerals including pyrite, limonite, kyanite, malachite and azurite are mined in the county. Farmland covers 82,194 acres, and livestock and poultry are 88% of agricultural sales. Fifty-five percent of the land is croplands, and 25% is woodlands. Fishing and hunting are popular in the county known for its deer and turkey population. Fishermen take advantage of the many species found in the Tar and Flat rivers as well as the 120-acre Mayo. Person County Schools provides K-12 public education, and Piedmont Community College offers higher learning.
