Situated in the southcentral part of the state, a portion of Fort Bragg is within its borders. There are almost 40 golf courses as well as the Pinehurst Race Track and McLendon Equestrian Center. Pinehurst is widely known for its hosting of multiple US Open Golf championships tournaments. For sportsmen, there is the 1,100-acre Moore County Game Lands and the 60,000-acre Sandhills Game Lands, both great for fishing and hunting deer. Moore County Schools provide K-12 public education, and Sandhills Community College offers higher learning opportunities.
