Granville County Land and Farms

Granville County land and farms are appealing to investors, developers, new businesses and homebuyers for many reasons including its access to major transportation corridors including I-85 as well as airports. It also has a highly skilled workforce. Land in Granville County is located in the Piedmont and borders on Virginia, Wake, Durham, Vance, Franklin and Person counties. It has grown into a quasi-bedroom community for the surrounding counties and is only a 30-minute drive to Research Triangle Park. The 536-square-mile county is home to 60,443 residents. Farms account for 124,813 acres of which 34% is in cropland and 49% in woodlands. A large portion of its economic base is manufacturing. Revlon Consumer Products Corps and Altec Industries are among the largest private employers. In addition to the Tar River, Granville has five lakes that provide outdoor recreation such as fishing, swimming, boating, camping and hiking. Hunters can bag deer and turkeys, while fishermen can land a variety of species including largemouth bass and crappie. Granville was the site of the Tuscarora Uprising, and after the defeat of the Native Americans farmers settled the area to grow tobacco. Public education is provided for K-12 by Granville County Public Schools, and higher learning is offered at Vance-Granville Community College.
