Caswell County Land and Farms

Farms and land in Caswell County are flush with appeal for investors, hunting and fishing enthusiasts, developers, tourist-based businesses and farmers. More than 105,000 acres of the 428-square-mile Caswell County land is agriculture, which includes more than 46,000 acres in woodlands waiting to be hunted or timbered. Among the largest private employers are Yanceyville Operating Company, Certainteed Gypsum and BHI. Hunters visit the area to hunt deer, turkeys and waterfowl, while fishermen can catch their limits of crappie, largemouth bass, sunfish and trout in the Dan River or one of its many tributaries. Located in the Piedmont region, the county is bordered by Person, Orange, Alamance, Guilford and Rockingham counties and the State of Virginia on the north. The county has a growing tourism market fueled by its rich history sprinkled throughout the county. The county seat since 1792, Yanceyville’s National Register Historic District encompasses an antebellum courthouse, courthouse town square and 23 other antebellum houses and buildings. In Milton, Union Tavern is a two-story brick tavern and one of the earliest remaining taverns in the state. Caswell County has a population of 23,000. Caswell County Schools offers K-12 public education, and Piedmont Community College opens the door to higher education.
