Dawson was born and raised in the farming community of Galivants Ferry, South Carolina. He has deep roots in the Aynor area of Horry County where the values of faith, family, and farming were instilled in him from a very young age. He started his working days operating a commercial hog operation and farming all types of grain. Growing up as an avid hunter and fisher, Dawson has always been familiar with the geography in the eastern region of South Carolina whether it be fields, woods, rivers, marshes, or swamps. In his free time he enjoys hunting and just being on the land with his wife and kids.
